All work and no play is the easiest way to burn yourself out. The average work week can seem daunting and mundane at times. Sometimes I feel like I slip into autopilot. When I feel like this is happening, I know it’s time for a change up. Here’s a few things you can incorporate into your work week to spice it up a notch:
- Actually have a sit down lunch- the work day can fly by and honestly I rarely even eat lunch. Having a sit down lunch helps break up your day and revitalizes you to tackle the rest of the day.
- Happy hour- Do I need to elaborate?
- Date night- If you have a significant other or even a close friend, make some dinner plans mid week. This gives you something to look forward to.
- Mid-day coffee break- Nothing says “get your a** in gear like some caffeine. Actually going out for coffee allows you to take a step back and take a mid morning breather.
- Do something for yourself- whether that means getting your nails done, hair did, therapy session or gym session – do something for you.
- Pre-pack an awesome lunch- food makes my world go round, so when I know I packed a great lunch it gives me something to look forward to.
- Podcasts or playlists- driving into and home from work can be awful especially with traffic. Defuse the morning scaries or the dull drive home with an interesting podcast or some throwback music.
- Schedule quiet time- If you’re like me, you need a few minutes to decompress throughout the day. I always make time at the end of my day to sit by myself, drink my tea, and either do a cross word puzzle or read a chapter. I look forward to those quiet moments since they are few and far between.
- Go for a walk- After I get home from work in the spring/summer my boyfriend and our daughter like to go for a walk. It’s nice to reconnect with your loved ones and hear about each others’ days.
- Morning workout followed by breakfast of champions- If you start your day out the right way, you get to work not only feeling accomplished but feeling like an actual super hero.
So there you have it folks, spice up your life and your work week!
